I generally use a phone for, well...phone stuff. So when I was shopping for a cell phone to replace my ancient Samsung flip phone I was actually looking for another Samsung flip with a moderately good digital camera..
Once I went to the phone store I realized 2 things. The newer generation of flip phones are very JUNKY and feel very cheap!!! And their cameras suck totally.
I wanted a Samsung because I found my last 2 Samsung phones to be very durable.
After shopping around a bit I decided on the Impact. It works on a normal cell phone package (ie. no data package required) and it has some nice PDA type features.
In terms of using the phone I like it a lot. It has a nice rubberized back so it doesn't slip out of your hand like a lot of bar phones do. Also it is very sleek while still having a nice sized screen. My 7 year old has no trouble holding it in her hand.
The speakerphone and voice dialing in this unit work very, very well. I have had it for 3 months now, and I have literally only had it up to my ear only once or twice (which is great because cellphones give me headaches)
Even though I use the speakerphone a lot, people don't know that I am on it when I call them, it is that clear!!
The touch screen is nice, and has nice (adjustable) vibrating tap feedback which I like a lot. It was adjusted fine for me right out of the box.
The one complaint that I have about the touch screen is that is ts a bit over sensitive at times. For example, when you reach into your pocket to get it, you can sometimes change screens so that you have to mess around going through a couple of screens to get back to dialing. Thankfully, the screen lock is located in a very convenient location, and has a dedicated button.
The only major thing I don't like about this phone is the software that runs syncing on my PC. It is a bit of a pain to install, and it has a bit of a learning curve.
Oh yes, one more thing. The SD card fits in the battery compartment. The battery cover is a little tricky to get off, so I would get the person that sells you the phone to show you how to do it. There is a little trick to it that makes it easy to remove, but someone really needs to show you.
Overall I am quite pleased with this phone so far. I hope that the phone lasts 7 years like my last one!!

I've had the Impact for only 2 weeks, but so far so good. It has a good battery life (especially stand-by time) but does seem to go down quicker after you lose one of 5 bars. Overall, pretty average battery life, I would say. The screen is nice and bright with a high resolution, but the camera is only good, not great. Video quality is quite poor - standard cell phone stuff.
Sounds from the phone are cool, although options are limited. "Whiz" setting gives you some neat=sounding tones. Ringer selection is limited, especially if you are looking for just a basic ringtone like I use.
Keyboard is a bit touchy. Fairly easy to hit the wrong letters and backing up is not easy as there is no backbutton that does not erase characters. Touch screen is accurate and responsive overall.
Storage is not great either, even with a memory card. Count on deleting images if you like to add quite a few.
For a non-smart phone, getting on the web is not painfully slow, but of course mobile versions wont get you flash and all that stuff. Okay for checking and sending emails, paying bills, stuff like that.
Overall a fairly lively and fun phone to have. It is not big, but offers a good sized screen despite its size. I think, perfect size.
A good sized display clock is a widget so it often gets shifts around by accident on the home screen. Probably would prefer a fixed larger clock (there is a tiny one along the top icon bar).
