SaskTel has expanded its 3G+ wireless network to 26 more locations across the province of Saskatchewan.
“Our 3G+ wireless network delivers increased bandwidth, greater international roaming and a wider selection of wireless devices,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “3G+ is the new industry standard and will enable SaskTel to make a smooth transition to future generations of wireless technology.”
The 26 tower locations, along with 3G+ coverage details, are:
- Arborfield: provides coverage to the town of Arborfield and the surrounding area including highways 23 and 335.
- Birch Hills: provides coverage to the town of Birch Hills.
- Bowlby Lake: provides coverage to the oil and gas area northwest of Unity.
- Candle Lake: provides coverage to the southern portion of Candle Lake Provincial Park.
- Carlyle: provides coverage to the town of Carlyle and the surrounding area including highways 9 and 13. •
- Carrot River: provides coverage to the town of Carrot River and the area east of Nipawin including highways 23 and 55.
- Choiceland: provides coverage to the town of Choiceland and the surrounding area including highways 6 and 55.
- Coronach: provides coverage to the town of Coronach and the surrounding area including highways 18 and 36.
- Crutwell: provides coverage to the area west of Prince Albert including highway 3 between Prince Albert and Shellbrook.
- Deer Ridge: provides coverage to the area northwest of Prince Albert including Sturgeon Lake First Nation.
- Kelliher: provides coverage to the town of Kelliher and the surrounding area including highway 15 between Lestock and Ituna.
- Langenburg: provides coverage to the town of Langenburg and the surrounding area including highway 16 approaching the Manitoba border.
- Lucky Lake: provides coverage to the Lucky Lake are including highways 42 and 45.
- Maidstone: provides coverage to the town of Maidstone and the surrounding area including highway 16 between Paynton and Lashburn.
- Pangman: provides coverage to the area south of Pangman including highways 6 and 13.
- Rabbit Lake: provides coverage to the area southwest of Spiritwood including highway 378.
- Radville: provides coverage to the town of Radville.
- Ridgedale: provides coverage to the area between Nipawin and Tisdale including highways 35 and 335.
- Rockglen: provides coverage to the town of Rockglen and the surrounding area including highways 2 and 18.
- Serath: provides coverage to the area between Southey and Raymore including highway 6.
- Shellbrook: provides coverage to the town of Shellbrook and the surrounding area including highways 3, 40, 55 and 240.
- Shell Lake and Shell Lake Rural: provide coverage to the town of Shell Lake and the surrounding area including highway 12.
- St. Brieux: provides coverage to the town of St. Brieux and the surrounding area including highway 368.
- St. Louis: provides coverage to the town of St. Louis and the surrounding area including highway 2 south of Prince Albert.
- Tobin Lake: this tower on the north side of Tobin Lake provides both 3G+ and CDMA coverage to the lake itself and the Tobin Lake community.
The 3G+ network provides increased bandwidth with download speeds approximately 4 times faster than existing speeds (up to 21 megabits per second). It is also compatible with approximately 80% of all networks across the world and international roaming customers will be able to use their SaskTel 3G+ device on 3G+ networks anywhere.
